had a little chat wif dr tay - my stats lecturer/tutor - on forensic psych.. all i can say is COOL! he worked as a police forensic psychologist (PFP), as well as in the prison system, in the USA, so was able to get 1st hand experience from him.. ^_^ PFP can perform dual roles in the PD, be a counsellor + accessing the mental state of police officers at one hand while helping to solve cases & 'getting' a profile of the criminal on the other hand. he said working at crime scenes can be a horrible experience, especially at homicides.. see really gruesome stuff.. he didn't like that part of the job, i doubt i will either.. but still, it sounds interesting working in that field. so edu path wise, get a minimun of a masters in clinical (or counselling) psych to work in S'pore, a PhD to practice in USA. =P then from clinical can concentrate/branch out into forensics.. ~yay.. aniwae if it fails, i still have clinical psych to fall back on.. more doors opened than just to major in forensic psych.. hmm.. so my path has been set! (i think) at least i haf a driection to head towards to.. =) and my initial decision was correct too.. all i needed was confirmation(?).. no, more like to know that i'm on the correct path.. =P
it's easier to be a psychologist here in S'pore than it is in USA, need PhD to be considered a psychologist.. x_X.. will see where my future takes me.. =P
oh, and JCUS is in the process of accreditation this year by the Australian Psych Soc, as said by the academic director after i asked her. ^_^
